I am headed off to Vegas for the CES show. This is the ultimate mix of a personal and pleasure trip. I have always been a fan of new technology and modernity (I blame Kubrick and 2001). It’s amazing that I haven’t made it to CES yet. Although the trip is very much a personal one for fun, I do want to attack the 2,700 booths with this question:
“Does any of this speak to or help small business?”
I believe in the power of small business for a few reasons:
1. the internet is maturing and is everywhere
2. it’s easy for small business to get online with minimum costs
3. light development frameworks allow for rapid development of ideas (we’re in the PHP | MySQL and PostgreSQL camp here at Pelago, but all of those Ruby on Rails folks know what I’m talking about)
Is there anything at CES that speaks to or can help us small companies? …I hope to find out.
