We all know that we need to track our time more efficiently at work. Doing so will increase revenues and help us focus more on the important tasks. Tracking our time and tasks in the workplace makes us a better worker. However, there are plenty of other reasons, having nothing to do with your job, why you should track your time better at work. Here are just a few.
- Family time. There are people who depend on you, and like being with you. Manage your day better, so that you can leave the office on time (and stay away from it on weekends) and spend more time with loved ones
- Health & fitness. The number one reason most people don’t exercise is that they don’t have the time. By prioritizing your workload, you can find a spot for the gym or a bike ride.
- Television & other distractions. Frank Lloyd Wright called television chewing gum for the eyes. And look at what he accomplished. Once you start identifying time-wasters at work, you’ll be able to identify, and eliminate, the time-wasters at home.
- Free time. Flex time. My time. We all have our hobbies and interests. Start working less and using your free time for you. Finish building the LEGO replica of the Millenium Falcon, or go on that vacation you’ve been dreaming about.
There are plenty of other things you can be doing with free time, if you had it. Find time by tracking your time and getting things done. Our work-driven culture may have taken most of us captive, but there are ways to escape it.
