From the very start, before any code was written, we decided Intervals would be a chance for us to refine our philosophy of lightweight project management; time and task tracking coupled with reporting and invoicing. We’d done the heavy lifting in the past, using microsoft project, wallpapering our office with Gantt charts, allocating resources; it was just too much.
As we continue to build Intervals, we are focused on refining and improving our vision of lightweight project management. Task tracking is a crucial component, communicating responsiblities to a team and keeping them accountable. Time tracking against those tasks, and projects in general, quantifies efforts into billable and unbillable work. Reporting ties it all together, like the dude’s rug, providing a summary or a detailed synopsis of the business flow. Invoicing translates data into revenue, rounding out the workflow of any project.
That’s eight years of managing projects as a small businesses, in a nutshell. Intervals is ideal for professionals who require a similar workflow, or looking to adapt a proven workflow to their own business.
