It seems these days that a new web-based something-or-other appears in our periphery at least once a month, promising to revolutionize, redefine, and further simplify our workflow. While there are certainly some aspects of project management, time tracking and task management that could use some rethinking, existing and proven methodologies will serve small businesses best.
One goal of web-based software is to increase its adaptability in the marketplace. We’ve always felt the best way to do this is by engaging our customers in personal conversations, meeting them where they are at and helping them through the process of adapting their workflow to an online medium. A lot of customer collaboration takes place during and after the engagement process and both Intervals and our customers end up benefiting from the relationship; our idea of symbiosis.
Amidst the flurry of buzz surrounding web-based tools, some are going down for the count. Our advice is to do your research before committing your company to any web-based software. There is good reason why established small businesses will gravitate towards tried and true offerings.
