As a small business monitoring what is being said about you or your competition is very important but it can be tricky. Typically each person wears a lot of different hats so staying on top of it can fall between the cracks. Web Analytics such as Index Tools or Google Analytics give you great information, but you can fall into information overload very easily.

I just stumbled across Google Alerts and signed up for an account. I’ll quickly find out if it’s overkill or valuable. Also, I’m curious to see how accurate it is…
